Well folks we
couldn't not have a kangaroo of some description here, and we apologize that it isn't
something a little better. However rest assured that we are going to have our best
photographer station himself out at Healsville Sanctuary with his brand new digital camera and take
shot after shot. He is bound to come up with something extraordinary. Australians do not
realize just how popular kangaroos and koalas are with overseas visitors, and we just take these
very unusual animals for granted.
Information
for visitors:
While kangaroos are very plentiful they do not hop down our main streets and koalas are not lurking
in every gum tree. Koalas are in fact fairly rare and the best places to see them are at the
zoo or one of the wildlife sanctuaries.
In some country areas kangaroos are considered to be a great nuisance as they eat the farmers' crops
and compete with sheep and cattle for valuable grazing pastures. They (kangaroos) are not in danger
of extinction as some persons would have you believe.
While kangaroos are generally harmless inoffensive creatures they can give a person a very nasty
kick with their hind legs that could rip open a persons stomach (and this has happened). Even
the so-called tame ones can get very cranky so please for your own safety treat them with respect
and don't go too close.

Latest info on the kangaroo, our photographer can't be bothered - sorry. We still live in
hopes. Wish we could sack him but this is not an easy thing to do here in Australia. Probably
sue us for wrongful dismissal and then we would be thrown in jail or worse. It's tough here.
