Hydrangeas a popular decidious shrub with excellent flowers that make a lovely flower arrangement.  Hydrangeas can also be dried and used in dried flower arrangements.  In the garden they are a very hardy plant that needs pruning in the winter.

Warning about these flowers.  We have found when attending to these plants that they can harbour the dreaded white tail spiders, which are capable of giving a very nasty bite.  The effects of this bite can last for years with the area swelling and becoming very ugly and ulcerated.  This is in Melbourne and we don't know whether this happens in other areas of Australia or even if the spider lives in other States.  Never-the-less it always pays to wear gloves and to be just be a little bit careful when attending to your garden where ever you live.
