Oh for the talent to bring this
photograph to life. To get rid of all the old spots - bring out the texture of the fabrics -
the half smile on the face. How lovely this photo must have been in 1890.
Grandmother was very aware about the
rights of women and certainly considered herself equal to any man. She was very well educated and
talented and made sure that her children had the advantages that she herself had enjoyed. She
was also aware that many women were very disadvantaged and down - trodden and in her own way did
what she could to help wherever possible.
She was also very concerned about the treatment of the Aboriginals which she considered to be very
unfair and inequitable.
Perhaps a lady ahead of her time.
